Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Scenic ByWay

The picture was taken beyond the Patriarch Grove on the way to the Barcroft Station which is 18 miles (dirt road) from Schulman Grove.

SDRover spent last weekend in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains.

One of my favorite drives is between Schulman Grove and Patriarch Grove on the dirt Ancient  Bristlecone Scenic Byway.  Pictured behind me is White Mountain Peak. The picture was taken beyond the Patriarch Grove on the way to the Barcroft Station which is 18 miles (dirt road) from Schulman Grove.

White Mountain Peak (or simply White Mountain), at 14,252-foot (4344.0 m), is the highest peak in the White Mountains of California, the highest peak in Mono County, and the third highest peak in the state after Mount Whitney and Mount Williamson. – Wikipdia

Location of the picture from Delorme InReach GPS.

Mile sign just beyond the Schulman Grove.
While not a 4×4 road always good to have a road ready vehicle with a spare!
The Scenic Byway wanders through some fantastic open country.
My favorite sign of all!
